Big Island Day 3

On our last full day on the B.I., we went to Boiling Pots, Pe'epe'e Falls and Rainbow Falls along the Wailuku River and a black sand beach.

Boiling Pots is a cool area where the underground lava tubes make the water look like it's swirling. Pe'epe'e falls was a short hike from the lookout. Honestly I didn't make it all the way; the hike was pretty rough and I had on sandals and fell twice. So I stopped half way while they went on. I think we were dumb to do it, I thought it was a little dangerous. I was worried about the kids; but Jamie and Tishanna didn't think it was that bad so they made it to the waterfall.

A short drive down was Rainbow falls. You can kind of see the rainbow in the middle of the falls if you look closely.

After that we went to Richardson's black sand beach. I don't really like black sand beaches (makes me feel dirty), but Jamie never been to one. The kids actually really loved it; there was a lot of lava rock tidepools and they saw a lot of fish. We saw colorful fish, lots of crabs, and even a dead blowfish. (pics taken on iPhone)
