lens envy.

I admit it, I have it. Camera envy too. It would be a dream to get my hands on a d700! But I'm a realist and 1. can't bear [afford] to spend that kind of money right now, and 2. probably should make the most of what I have now, even if it is a stupid kit lens. Plus I haven't even really practiced much on the speedlight Jamie got me for Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the d90 and the 50mm, but sometimes, especially now when I'm in a photography funk, I wish for something more. A beautiful wide angle maybe, to get some serious landscape shots, or maybe the 24-70, to have a great all around lens. Maybe someday. For now I'm gonna have to suck it up, utilize the kit lens more and keep practicing and stop comparing myself to others. It's hard. I keep telling myself that it's not the gear that makes the photograph. So I'm challenging myself to take pictures everyday with my cell phone, and try to get more creative with that. And maybe I should spend the money on a workshop, because I seriously need some inspiration! It doesn't help that my kids run away anytime I try to pick up the camera nowadays! ha!
What inspires you?

I am a firm believer it is more about the operator than the machine :) Your pictures are amazing, but I know... once you have kind of reached a level with what you have, its normal to long for more 'toys' for your camera. Keep doing what you're doing. I'm loving all the pictures on this post.

I hear ya! It's very easy to get caught up in all the photography "gadgets". I'm thinking of taking a workshop as well.

Well for a 'kit lens' you do an amazing job of capturing things! And I would second the one who said that you never know by the diversity of your shots.

I do know how you feel. I wish I could upgrade my Rebel XTi, but not now. I did get a better lenses for macro, but still learning.
As I heard another day, keep practicing with what you have and then make wonders with your new toys when they come to you.
I really like your work , how clear and fun they are. You do inspire me.
