Praying for Japan

Last night was such a long night. After finding out about the earthquake in Japan, and then going into Tsunami warning here, I couldn't go to sleep. Sirens going off every so often, phone calls from the states, worrying about my family and friends in Japan and on Kauai and the Big Island. Checking the news and FB every 5 minutes for any new updates. Seeing the video feed of the devastation in Japan just broke my heart. The beautiful people and country of Japan hold a special place in my heart, after living there for 4 years. And today I am so grateful that the tsunami didn't do much in Hawaii. It's humbling to think how precious life is and it can change in an instant. And it's scary to think that we really are just a small bunch of islands in the middle of the pacific. So much has been going on, with the volcanic activity, earthquakes, etc. I've come to realize that I really need to have some kind of disaster kit ready. It scares me to think of what I would do if Jamie was away. I would be freaked out. The media kept talking about stocking up on water, food and gas, but we didn't. We just stayed at home because we didn't want to get caught up in all the traffic. But after seeing the water coming over Japan so fast, I think we need to get prepared, just in case. I've been through 2 hurricanes and a few tsunami warnings already, and I should know better. Better to be safe than sorry. My heart will continue to pray for Japan.

Get prepared lady! I want you guys safe & sound in the case of an emergency! I am with you about Japan, it's weird and wrong but living there just has ups the emotions of seeing this disaster. Sure my heart goes out the everyone , anywhere, when there is this sort of catastrophe. But pictuing exactly what the cars, houses, and people look like and knowing we could have been there just takes it to a whole new level. I pray for healing physically and emotionally for all who lived through this and are trying to rebuild their lives.
