Friday Photo Fun

I’ve been practicing the "Rule of thirds" in photography, and trying to find different ways to shoot.  I’ve been really into negative spaces lately. Here’s my breakfast from today, some potato pancakes. (I know food pics are boring, but my kids have not been cooperating, hehe).  I put a piece of black posterboard behind my plate, then burned it more in Photoshop.  Please critique, thanks.

Check out Click it up a notch! for some great photography lessons and tips.  I really like the “why didn’t I think of that?” and the photo share, makes me motivated to practice more to submit a great picture.

The black board gives it an excellent effect, makes your pancakes really stand out. And make me want some. You always have creative ideas for your photos. Great job with the thirds rule.

What a clever idea to put the black posterboard behind it! I like all your negative space shots and I dont' think food is boring at all :O) Honestly, there isn't much I would do differently. Maybe I would have moved the pancakes over to the right a smidge because they look like they are going to fall out of the frame. And maybe adding a little something to the plate, like a garnish or something?? But that is just being nit picky :O) Great job, Janell!!
