Friday Photo Fun- Playing with lights and bokeh

I’m writing this blog Thursday night because I won’t have time tomorrow.  For Friday’s photo fun, I tried playing around with lights to get these light shapes.  I got the idea from the “Why didn’t I think of that?” lesson over at Click it up a notch!.  She used a flashlight; but for some reason I just couldn’t get a good shape with mine, I think my flashlight was too bright or something.  So I used the streetlights by our house, handheld the camera and made shapes with a slower shutter speed and moving the camera.  These are the ones that came out.Another thing I played around with is making these heart shaped bokeh.  I am planning on doing this for our christmas photos, so I thought it would be good to get some practice out of it.  I used some black construction paper and cut out a little heart shape to make a filter for my lens.  Can you see the little heart shaped bokeh in the background?  Next time I think I will make the hearts a little more rounder.bokeh (35) bokeh (38) bokeh (43)

What a clever idea to use your street light! I love the red heart! I can totally see the heart shaped bokeh. I am just really confused as to how you did it :O)

Great ideas, I never would have thought to move the camera. The little hearts shapes are so cool. It adds so much to the photo. I'll have to give it a try someday.
