Night Photography

ISO 100 | f16 | 30 sec exposure

This week I learned that I really need to start practicing my night photography skills more. I also learned that I need to take my tripod with me when I do take my camera out at night! This was taken at around 9:30pm on a wobbly picnic table with squid guts all over it. gross.

Check out Click it up a notch and see what other photographers learned this week:

This is so beautiful, love the green tinge to the lights, the star burst and the reflections. The background is wonderful too, with the mountains and dark blue sky. Great job balancing it on the table!

I love the atmosphere of the photo, there is something magical about it. The lighting and the composition are striking. I think my favorite part is the starry sky! I agree with you about the tripod, I have taken to carrying mine around with me whenever I have my camera...just in case :o).

Beautiful! I love the glowy lights, the stars and the mountains in the background. (Ew about the squid guts though!)

If practicing means you'll share more of these types of shots...then keep practicing!

Eww on the squid guts, but yay on this picture! Blonde roots showing maybe but...those are stars right? One of those things that I haven't seemed to get right...capturing stars.

Very pretty! I've been reading just this week on the importance of using a tripod to get really sharp images and especially at night.

Oh boy, chuckling at you behind the scenes! I do like this photo quite a bit, though! I am notorious for either forgetting my tripod or being to lazy to use it, haha! It is on my "must improve" list as well! ;)

Very lovely shot! The sky colors are beautiful. Sorry about the squid guts...what we won't do to get a shot sometimes! :)

Night photography is so much fun! But yeah...tripod...carrying it around...mine is currently lost in my house somewhere. Way to power through those squid guts--it was so worth it!
