Gingerbread House

This week I learned that it really isn't worth my boiling blood pressure to bring my camera out shopping with Isla. I really wanted to do a photo essay of us girl shopping and lunch. But it was too hard to concentrate; everytime I tried to get my camera out, she would run away, or grab something, or spill something, or start freaking out. *sigh* I realized I really need to just focus on her when we are out just the two of us. Anyway, this week over at click it up a notch, I learned more about photo essays. Love the ideas! Instead of the shopping and lunch with Isla, I took pictures of the kids decorating the gingerbread house. I decided to convert the pics to black and white, what do you think? I don't do B&W very often, I guess i'm just more of a colorful type, but I wanted to try something different.  Also the lighting in the room really sucked. Please critique, thank you! (wow, this turned out to be a long winded post, sorry).

I shared what I learned on Click it up a notch!  What did you learn?

The look of excitement on your little ones face is precious. I like the idea of a photo collage and the B & W is fabulous.

What I didn't mention is that the Christmas ornament was washed out to sea! If you try it don't use a ornament you treasure.

Wow! These are great! I don't do a lot of B & W conversions either but yours looks great! Love the different angles you used. Especially looking down on Kainoa's hands as he iced it with Jamie's hand in it too. Your lesson cracks me up! Isn't it funny how we have to learn those things the hard way :O)

I love it! I think the b&w adds an element of nostalgia to the pictures, and gingerbread houses seem to be something that's usually photographed in color, so this is cool & unusual.

Like everyone else, I love her expression in the first picture, and she looks so proud in the last picture! I think the b&w really works for this- otherwise it might be too busy- now you can focus on what is really going on in the photos.
