A year ago…

 

A year ago the kids and I were temporarily living with family…

  

A year ago we were wearing jeans and scarves practically every day and going to the apple orchards and pumpkin patches.

 

A year ago we had just gotten reacquainted with the Hughes cousins.

A year ago I was on the mainland and the hubby was in Hawaii.  Roles reversed this time. 

A year ago Isla was still crawling and Kainoa was in his second preschool.

A year ago I had to sell/give away 90 percent of all our belongings.

A year ago life seemed uncertain, scary, and bleak.

A year ago I was desperately missing Japan and my friends.  (I still do)

 

Today I’m wearing a tank top and shorts;  I’ve made new friends, still keep in touch with my BFF’s; our house is full and happy, and things just keep looking up.  It felt like we would never make it over that struggle. I prayed and prayed everyday, cried a lot, felt like things would never go our way.  Now I can’t believe how almost perfect things are, how things finally seem to be falling in place.  But, I wouldn’t have change the past year, struggles and all.  It was hard, but I think it helped me to grow a little more. I know nothing is really certain, but for now, I’m blissfully happy.
