felting fun

its been a busy week for us-my friend Shannon had her baby, so i've been helping her a bit; I've also been getting ready for Kainoa to transition from speech therapy to school, coping with Jamie being gone, and getting ready to go to Hawaii. To relax i've been doing some felting. I found out about felting when i went to one of my favorite stores here called Joyful Honda a few months ago. It's this awesome crafting/lifegoods store with the most amazing stuff. I found a little kit to make small little felt balls and animals. what I love about it is that Kainoa can do it too; he can make little felt balls using wool and soapy water, while I make felt creations using felting needles. It's like sculpting with fibers. Of course I can't read Kanji, so I had to figure out the illustrations and learn more about it online. But it's an easy and quick craft, so i love it. Much easier then scrapbooking or other time consuming hobbies. I don't consider myself a crafty person at all so i love finding the fun easy crafts with instant gratification.

Here is a little onigiri i made.

Then here is a little blue dinosaur-y thingy I made. I call him Ernest.
Here's what the kit looks like:
and here's an old picture of Kainoa making a felt ball (this was around xmastime)

Here is a picture of Kainoa with Shannon's newborn baby Rory:

I love onigiri and your little felted one is ADORABLE! Maybe I'll give needle felting a try now- if you insist it's that easy!
